What Is Metaverse & What It Holds For The Future?

You're not the only one if you're hearing more about metaverse these days. For the last few months, everyone has been talking about this virtual world and its benefits for their businesses, from commerce and entertainment to every sector of society.

Metaverse may ultimately mutate into Web 3.0, the next avatar of the Internet. In simple words, the metaverse explains the next evolution of the Internet.

Metaverse is about bringing the Internet to life, like going into the virtual environment instead of just looking at it on your screens. It is a world of virtual communities where people can meet, play, or work using virtual headsets, reality glasses, brain-computer interfaces, or other devices.

"What can I do in the metaverse?". Well, you can easily go digital shopping, you can interact with everyone you want, you can go to a virtual concert, or you can make a trip online. The idea is to create a space like the Internet where users can walk around or interact with their digital avatars.

Digital currencies like crypto are to pay for your things in the metaverse.

"Metaverse" was not a common word until the social networking company, Facebook, changed its corporate name to Meta in October 2021.

Metaverse In The Present Times

Immersive worlds and creating online avatars are not new for this era, as games like Grand Theft Auto Online have created virtual universes. Even before this, games like Minecraft and Roblox provided metaverse-like experiences.

An online game, SecondLife, was launched in 2003 and is based on living in the virtual world. This game provides insights into how the metaverses work even before blockchain technology emerged.

If you want to be a part of such metaverses, you need to sign in your crypto wallet, or Web2 sign-in is also possible in the apps like spatial, where you can take part in virtual social rooms or virtual hangout spaces.

India is in the top 5 countries that capitalise on this tech, which will provide an opportunity of around $8 trillion in two years. The emergence of the Atma nirbhar metaverse is in the Indian startup world.

Techies like Mr. Zuckenberg and the major technology companies, including Apple, Google, Meta Platforms (Facebook), Microsoft, Niantic, and Valve, are developing technologies that will surely give shape to the metaverse.

The Future Of Metaverse

As the metaverse concept is in progress to incorporate Web3 technology through NFTs and Cryptos, the future of metaverse would be similar to our real world in many aspects. Some NFT vendors have already enabled their NFTs in some metaverse games like clothing & footwear.

The growth of the virtual economy also depends on the future of metaverses like virtual games and virtual worlds where there are no disruptions. Both users and creators gain a lot and can even increase if NFTs add to the game assets.

The vision of the metaverse of having a universe in which people from every continent unite to play, work, and learn together is futuristic and blissful in every measure. But the technology that is needed to support this is not something that every person can easily access.

Closing Thought

Over the next few years, an alternative digital world can be used for various personal & enterprise purposes. And the metaverse is expected to manifest itself from this virtual reality
